What is RAK?
Random Acts of Kindness at UCLA is a student group which promotes small, yet frequent genuine acts of kindness on campus and in the local community, with no expectations of anything in return. It aims to spread kindness and love to UCLA students, to appreciate the under-appreciated such as faculty and staff, and to provide acts of service in the greater Los Angeles community. Each act, no matter how small, will touch the individual and trickle on to create an impact on the community as a whole. We plan events, good deeds, and service projects that we carry out each quarter, together. We hope to see our kind words and acts echo endlessly.
Why doRAK?
We do Random Acts of Kindness because we hope to create a selfless and loving community on campus. We believe that every random act, no matter how small it may be, can have a major impact on the recipient. Every person who receives a smile, a hug, or encouraging words, will hopefully be inspired to pass on the love they have received, causing a chain reaction of kindness which will spread throughout UCLA and beyond. Random Acts of Kindness is about positivity and reaching out to as many people as possible. Legendary John Wooden once said, “You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.” We couldn’t agree more!
